National Weather Service Issues Flood Watch

Last updated on Monday, January 28, 2013

(UNDATED) - The National Weather service has issued a flood watch in effect from Tuesday night through Wednesday morning.

The flood watch is for the following areas: Bartholomew, Brown, Carroll, Clay, Clinton, Daviess, Decatur, Delaware, Fountain, Greene, Hamilton, Hancock, Hendricks, Henry, Howard, Jackson, Jennings, Johnson, Knox, Lawrence, Madison, Marion, Martin, Monroe, Montgomery, Morgan, Owen, Parke, Putnam, Randolph, Rush, Shelby, Sullivan, Tippecanoe, Tipton, Vermillion, Vigo and Warren counties.

Very heavy rainfall will occur Tuesday night as a strong cold front moves across the region. Rain amounts up to three inches are possible Tuesday night and may cause flooding in some low land areas.

A flood watch means there is a potential for flooding based on current forecasts. You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible flood warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared to take action should flooding develop.
