Mitchell Looks At Aging Sewer Treatment Facility

Last updated on Friday, January 11, 2013

(MITCHELL) - Triad Associates of Indianapolis returned to Mitchell with an updated cost projection on what it will take to rehabilitate the city’s aging sewer treatment facility.

Kystal Shetler of the Times-Mail reports that in December the firm's engineers estimated the project could cost the city $1,241,375 to renovate the plant.

It was decided at that time to make two changes to the plan in order to increase the facility's capacity.

The new estimated project total is $1,434,700.

Mayor Gary Pruett says the project will completely fix the city's sewer problems.

Jim Frazell of Triad Associates says the city will have a basically a new sewer plant when the project is done. Right now plans for sewer updates are in the beginning stages.

The proposal is to update the facility's equipment, and later explore funding options and obtain other projections from engineering firms before anything is decided.
