Man Injured In ATV Crash In Daviess County

(DAVIESS COUNTY) - Indiana Conservation Officers are investigating an all terrain vehicle crash that happened on County Road 150 North in Daviess County.

According to DNR officer Ron Miller, 19-year-old Heath Snider of Vincennes, was operating an all terrain vehicle at a high rate of speed when he lost control of the vehicle and it left the roadway.

Snider along with other off-road vehicles were traveling west on County Road 150 North, when as the riders approached the White River Bridge, Snider's ATV left the roadway, went airborne striking several tree tops.

The vehicle traveled approximately 36 feet airborne before landing on its top and ejecting the Snider.

Daviess County Sheriff's Department and Southwest Medical were dispatched at 8:25 p.m. to the scene.

Snider, who suffered severe head injuries was transported to Daviess County Hospital by Southwest Medical and later flown to St. Mary's Hospital in Evansville. He was not wearing a helmet.

Police says alcohol may be a contributing factor in the accident.

The crash remains under investigation by Indiana Conservation Officers.

Indiana Conservation Officers highly recommend the use of helmets and proper safety equipment for those riding all-terrain vehicles.
