Linton Man Arrested After Threatening To Shoot Wife In Face

(LINTON) - 42-year-old Gregory Wayne Swiger, of Linton, was arrested and is facing charges of intimidation with a deadly weapon and pointing a firearm at another person.

The Greene County Daily World reports that Swiger is accused of pointing a gun at his wife, telling her it was loaded and that he was going to "make her face ugly."

While the woman was on the phone calling 911 for help, the dispatcher who took the call reported to officers she heard a man in the background say he was "going to do it right."

Linton Police Department Cpl. Paul Clark and Officer Michael rushed to the home at 144 South State Road 59 at approximately 2:30 a.m. on Saturday while the dispatcher at the Greene County Sheriff's Department continued to talk to the distraught woman. When officers arrived they could hear Swiger yelling inside.

Officers rushed in and restrained Swiger was restrained and removed from the home.
The officers reported the living room was in disarray, vertical blinds had been pulled from the wall and thrown on the floor, and items had been pulled out of a closet.

They located a 12-gauge Remington 870 Express pump-action shotgun, loaded with three slug shotgun shells in the magazine but no round in the chamber when it was recovered.

The woman told police Swiger began to verbally degrade and insult her when he came home, acting irate and irrational over the course of a few hours. He allegedly threatened to sexually assault her when she fell asleep and he had pointed the gun at her and claiming it was loaded.

Jasonville Police Officer Ryan Van Horn and two other officers also responded to assist on the scene.

Early Monday morning Swiger posted $1,400 in bail and was released from jail. He was ordered to have no contact with the victim and will be formally charged at an initial hearing at 1 p.m., Jan. 14.
