(BEDFORD) - The Limestone Ladle will now serve free community dinners twice a month.

The dinners are on the second and fourth Sundays of the month at the Knights of Columbus Hall from 1-3 p.m. The K of C is just off Mitchell Road. The January dinners will be served on Jan. 13 and 27 from 1-3 p.m.

Marge Phillips, member of the Limestone Ladle steering committee says more dinners means a need for more churches and volunteer groups to prepare and serve dinners.

Currently, there are about 11 churches participate regularly, but there's always room for more, said Phillips.

Phillips has a couple of openings, including one in February.

Phillips says churches are the sponsors and the committee helps coordinate efforts.

Some churches team up to host a dinner. One church provides the paper products that are used each month.

Average attendance is 75 people, with about 25 shut-ins also served. TASC provides transportation from several locations.

Steering committee members are Phillips, Rosemary Stanley, Janet Jackson, Barb Morris, Karla Fortner and Paula Teague.
