(DUGGER) - A 43-year-old Dugger woman has been arrested again for possessing “bath salts”.
The Greene County Daily World reports, Joanna Kaye Squire was out on bond in one case involving alleged felony possession of bath salts when she was arrested again and charged with another felony possession of bath salts.
In the latest incident, Squire was arrested by Linton Police Officer Brock Garrison during a traffic stop on 15th Street NW in Linton around 8:40 p.m. on Jan. 4.
When her license was checked, police determined she was driving with a suspended license. She was taken into custody then transported to the Greene County Jail.
Her vehicle was impounded and inventoried. Police reported they found a small silver bag under the driver's seat which contained hypodermic needles, small pieces of cotton, a silver spoon with residue and a small glass jar that contained a white powder. They also found $374 in cash.
The items were field tested by LPD Det. Josh Goodman who reported the spoon tested positive for methamphetamine and the white powder tested positive as methylenedioxypyrovalerone or bath salts.
During Squire's initial hearing in Greene Circuit Court this week, she was charged with possession of methamphetamine, a class D felony, possession of a synthetic drug, a class A misdemeanor, and driving while suspended with a prior conviction within ten years, a class A misdemeanor.
A public defender was appointed to represent her and her bond was set at $6,000 cash only, no ten percent allowed. The case is scheduled for trial on May 28.
The other case pending against Squire also popped up on the court docket this week - the Greene County Prosecutor's Office filed a petition to revoke her bond.
In that earlier case, also in Greene Circuit Court, Squire was charged with possession of a synthetic drug, bath salts, in an amount more than two grams, a class D felony, and possession of marijuana, a class A misdemeanor.
Squire was arrested by Jasonville Police Officer Ryan Van Horn on Sept. 14 during a traffic stop --the police report said she failed to signal a turn at the intersection of South Park and Capital streets in Jasonville around 1 a.m.
During the stop, the officer reported seeing a plastic corner baggie containing a white crystal substance lying in the back floorboard of the vehicle.
Police said she consented to a search of her vehicle and they reported finding a purple cloth bag next to the driver's seat containing digital scales, syringes, a spoon with residue, measuring cups, baggies, twist ties and a plastic bag containing a substance which they said tested positive for methylenedioxypyrovalerone - it allegedly weighed 34.6 grams. They also said she was carrying $1,077.58 in cash and they suspected she was involved in illegal drug sales.
The petition to revoke her bond in that case was approved on last week so she continues to be held in jail without bond. That case is currently scheduled to go to trial on March 12.
