Crash On U.S. 50 Sends Five To Local Hospitals

Last updated on Thursday, January 3, 2013

(BROWNSTOWN) - Five people were sent to area hospitals following a three-vehicle crash on U.S. 50 between Seymour and Brownstown New Year’s Eve.

The Seymour Tribune reports that one of the drivers, 23-year-old Tristan Ritz of Seymour, had to be removed from his truck by firefighters and was airlifted to University of Louisville Medical Center.

The Jackson County Sheriff's Office says the crash happened around 11 a.m. in front of T&T Auto Body, located in the 3000 block of East U.S. 50.

Ritz reportedly ran his pickup truck into the back of another truck driven by 17-year-old Hannah Barker of Seymour.

Officials say Ritz was driving west behind Barker and looked down briefly and then looked up in time to see Barker's vehicle slowing to turn left in front of him.
