Burmese Translator Needed Following DUI Arrest

(WASHINGTON) - The Washington Police Department needed the assistance of a Burmese translator when investigating an accident involving an intoxicated driver Tuesday.

Lianne Wiscaver of Washington was driving south on Front Street when 37-year-old Reh Htay, of Indianapolis pulled away from a stop sign at Lincoln Street and into Wiscaver's path.

The vehicles collided in the intersection.

A Burmese translator was called to aid in the investigation.

Htay, who was driving an a learner's permit, tested 0.16 percent BAC.

He was arrested for operating a vehicle while intoxicated and endangering a person.

Htay is being held in the Security Center on $4,000 bond.
