Brownstown Man Wins "Hottest Husband In America" Contest

Last updated on Friday, January 18, 2013

(BROWNSTOWN) - When Jennifer Nehrt of Brownstown saw an advertisement for Redbook magazine’s ‘Hottest Husband In America’ contest, she thought entering her husband, Levi, would be a good idea because she thought her husband would be a good candidate.

The Jackson County Banner reports that Levi thought being entered in the contest was neat, but thought he would not hear about it again.

There were more than 1,800 entries, and Levi was selected as one of the 24 finalists. Then in November the family received a call saying Levi was chosen as the Hottest Husband.

After receiving word he had won, the couple and their two children were flown to New York City to a photo shoot for the magazine.

What made Nehrt stand out, Jennifer says, was the fact he saved a high school freshman last spring after she had been struck by lightning.

The lightning strike occurred last spring when Nehrt, a chiropractor, was working with a patient in his office on Second St. in Seymour when he looked out the window and saw softball player Emily Bobb get struck by lightning.

When he saw what happened, he ran out of his office, jumped the fence, and resuscitated her before emergency services rushed her to Riley Hospital for Children in Indianapolis.
