(BEDFORD) - Jim Sowders and Shea Hooten, representing the new Boys and Girls Club of Lawrence County, requested permission from the Park board to host three fundraisers.

The first proposed project is the Craig Bowden Celebrity Classic, which is designed to raise money for the club's endowment fund. The event is slated for June 8 at Otis Park. Bowden and former IU basketball standout John Laskowski have offered to recruit the celebrities.

Mike Mitchell, Superintendent of Parks, says the board voted to waive fees for the golf tournament.

The second event is a duck race at John Lowery Municipal Pool on Friday, May 24.

Sowders says it will feature plastic ducks participants can adopt for $5 each. The ducks, labeled with numbers, will flow down the slide toward a finish line.

The third project is a community dance at Otis Park Band Shell. The dance will replace the Glory Day weekend and be called Alumni Days. The dance will be held Saturday July 27.
