Bicyclist Killed After Being Struck By Car

(SEYMOUR) - Tuesday at approximately 1:30 pm police responded to a report of a bicyclist being struck by a vehicle on U.S. 31 near Redding Woods north of Seymour.

According to Indiana State Police Senior Trooper Stephen Wheeles, a bicycle being ridden by 48-year-old Mark G. Crosby, of North Vernon was northbound on U.S. 31 near Redding Woods when he was struck by a 2006 Dodge Stratus driven by 53-year-old Gary Hollin of Seymour.

After impact Crosby was thrown from his bike and died at the scene from his injuries.

Hollin was not injured but was transported to Schneck Memorial Hospital in Seymour for blood testing as is required by law for all drivers involved in a fatal traffic crash.

Wheeles says the results of the blood test are pending and the crash remains under investigation.

Wheeles was assisted at the scene by Sgt. Mark Helms, Senior Trooper Jason Hankins, Trooper Korry Clark and Jackson County Sheriff Department deputies, and Jackson County emergency services.
