Indiana State Police Trooper Paul Stolz was on State Road 64, two blocks away from the gas station, when he received information on a silver Chevrolet Caprice and spotted a vehicle that fit the description.
Trooper Stolz pulled over Michael Norrington, 18, of Washington, Ind. near County Road 125 South in Pike County.
During the initial investigation, Trooper Stolz was able to locate two gas cans that had also been filled during the time of the pump-and-run.
Troopers also found a metal smoking device in Norrington's glove box and determined Norrington had never received a driver's license.
