Last updated on Thursday, December 20, 2012

(WASHINGTON) - A Washington mail carrier was in his delivery truck when it was hit in the rear by another vehicle Tuesday morning.

U.S. Postal Carrier John Perry reported that he was in his mail truck in front of a home in the 600 block of South West 1st Street when his mail truck was hit in the rear by person driving a gray Jeep Cherokee, which then left the scene.

The impact forced the mail truck into a neighboring yard.

Perry complained of neck pain.

Police say the Jeep would heavy front end and passenger side damage.

At 3 p.m. the owner of the Jeep reported it stolen from a location on Field Street on Washington's west side. Police say the incident is under investigation and anyone with information is asked to call police.
