Three Area Schools Will Get New Gym Floors

Last updated on Tuesday, December 18, 2012

(BEDFORD) - Lincoln and Needmore Elementary and Parkview Primary schools will get new hardwood gym floors in 2013.

Bids have been accepted for the projects. Director of Maintenance Steve Ritter says the hardwood floors will replace synthetic rubber floors at the school.

The floors, which are 20 to 30 years old, have reverted to something of a liquid state causing bubbles and flaws in the floors.

Cincinnati Flooring will put down maple floors to replace the synthetic material. The company also will add an insignia in the center of each court.

Ritter says the company has agreed to have the job done by August 1st , so that the floors will be finished by the time classes start next fall.

The total prices:
* Needmore: $69,486
* Parkview Primary: $77,708
* Lincoln: $70,743

Ritter says synthetic floors remain at Parkview Intermediate School and Stalker and Shawswick elementary schools. He said he is looking at replacing them in 2014.
