Super Oldies Jingle Bell Rock Found

Last updated on Friday, December 7, 2012

(BEDFORD) - The Super Oldies Jingle Bell Rock has been found. Congratulations to Paul White and Amy Carr, both of Mitchell.

The limestone rock, with 105.5 engraved into both sides, was found at the corner of Dillman Road and Victor Pike in Bloomington behind a limestone quarry sign.

For their efforts, White and Carr walked away with more than $1200 in prizes. Super Oldies hid the Jingle Bell Rock within the listening area and Super Oldies 105.5 aired clues on its location. After tracking down those clues, White and Carr found the rock. The couple has tried to find the rock for three years.

"We just minutes behind last year's winner," Carr says. "This year we were lucky and I have been messaged on Facebook by a woman who wanted to know what time we found it. We found it around noon and she was in the area around 2 p.m."

Carr didn't know anything about the Jingle Bell Rock, until she started dating Paul White about three years ago.

"He was telling me about it and we thought it would be a fun thing to do together," she says. "It's fun trying to find it. But we are not familiar with the Bloomington area."
The couple drove by the location

"We went all the way to Rockport Road and then turned around," Carr says. "We stopped at a few spots but found nothing, so we stopped at the 'Y' and I decided to get out and look behind the sign. I didn't see anything and was starting to walk away when I looked down and saw the rock. It was really covered over and I almost didn't see it, if it hadn't been right next to my foot."

Both White and Carr are pleased with their prize package.

"It contained a lot of great items," Carr says. "The Mays Greenhouse stuff is fantastic."
This year's event was sponsored by: Big O Tires of Bedford, Mary M's Walnut House, Mays Greenhouse of Bloomington, SatLink, Sipes Body & Glass and Victor Settle Jewelry.
