Last updated on Wednesday, December 5, 2012

(UNDATED) - There is a new drug of choice among teens - heroin.

Bill Stanczykiewicz is the President and CEO of the Indiana Youth Institute says 2.1 percent of Hoosier high school seniors have used heroin, which is 50 percent higher than the national average - and they are finding it at home.

Stanczykiewicz says you might be surprised at how kids are getting into heroin.

Stanczykiewicz says many abused prescriptions found at home contain opium derivatives, a shared trait with heroin. Indiana also has the nation's second highest rate of high school students abusing prescription drugs at 21 percent.
