Law Enforcement Officials And Firefighters To Help Hundreds Of Kids

Last updated on Monday, December 10, 2012

(WASHINGTON) - On December 20, Washington residents will hear sirens blaring and red and blue lights flashing.

But instead of an emergency, it will mark the 22nd year that area law enforcement officers, firefighters, probation and community corrections officials will be hosting scores of area children from the three Headstart schools and the 4-Rivers Kidstuff Pre-school in Martin and Daviess Counties.

Retired police officer Steve Riney says the program has grown and last year helped 169 kids from Daviess and Martin Counties.

Last year the FOP received over $18,000 in donations to be spent on the children, Riney says anyone wanting to donate this year can still help.
