Ivy Tech Student Arrested After Threatening To Blow Up Campus

(BLOOMINGTON) - Police arrested 21-year-old Devante Lashaun Mitchell, an Ivy Tech strudent on a preliminary charge of intimidation, a Class D felony, after he threatened to blow up the school.

Chancellor John Whikehart says, Mitchell was upset about his grades, walked into the treasurer's office, and threatened to blow up the place.

Indiana State Police in Bloomington say the campus was placed on lockdown in reference to the search of a building.

Employees and students received a text message saying the campus was closed and that police were called to the location to investigate.

Whikehart says bomb-sniffing dogs were brought in from Crane and Indiana University to search the building. No explosives were found.
