(BLOOMINGTON) - The Ivy Tech campus in Bloomington was placed on lockdown Friday afternoon.

Indiana State Police in Bloomington say the campus was placed on lockdown in reference to the search of a building.

Police say a threat was made toward the campus. According to Chancellor John Whikehart, a man, who is not an employee of Ivy Tech, was meeting with staff Friday afternoon when he got upset and threaten staff by saying a bomb was on campus.

Staff reviewed surveillance video and say the man left the building after making the threat and notified police.

Whikehart, says text messages and emails were sent to all employees and students saying the campus was closed and that police were en route.

The message instructed staff and students to shut and lock doors and move away from windows.

Monroe County Sheriff's Department and Indiana State Police responded and blocked the entrances to the campus.

As of 6 p.m. Friday, the building was secured by law enforcement, according to Whikehart, and personnel were out of the building. Police were awaiting the arrival of police dogs from Indiana University and Crane EOD to search the building.
