(MITCHELL) - On the first day of the new year, Spring Mill State Park will have a First Day Hike and Movie event.
Beginning at 1 p.m. on Jan. 1, the park staff will kick off the day with a brisk walk through the park.
Those interested are invited to meet the park's naturalist at the Nature Center Amphitheater for a walk around the lake to check out the latest beaver activity.
The hike is about 2-2 1/2 miles.
Afterwards, participants are invited to the Elm Room at Spring Mill Inn for refreshments and to view the IMAX film, "Beavers," about the American beaver.
