Heavy Rains Leads Accident

(PIKE CO.) - A Loogootee woman was trapped in her truck after an accident in Pike County Sunday afternoon.

According to a Pike County Sheriff's Department report, 27-year-old Audrey Rasico was driving her 2007 Chevy pick-up north on State Road 257 near Pike County Road 550 North when it started to rain heavily and her pickup began to hydroplane.

The truck left the right side of the highway, hit a utility pole head-on, snapping the pole, and then continued down and over an embankment, flipped on its top.

Rasico was trapped in the truck, but was able to use her cell phone to call 911.

Firefighters from Jefferson Township Fire Department freed Rasico had to be from the wreckage.

She was taken to Jasper Memorial Hospital, where she was treated and released.
