Explore Snow With Naturalist At Bedford Library, Dec. 18

Last updated on Friday, December 7, 2012

(BEDFORD) - For many people, the holiday season isn’t right without a beautiful snowfall to set the scene.

But where does that snow come from?

Jill Vance, the naturalist at Monroe Lake, will discuss the science of snow during "Let It Snow" at the Bedford library, 1323 K St., on Tuesday, Dec. 18, at 6 p.m.

"Let It Snow" explores winter weather from large-scale weather systems to what happens inside a single cloud. Visitors will learn what conditions are necessary for a big snowfall, and discover if it's true that no two snowflakes are identical.

The 45-minute program is recommended for adults and older children.

Before the evening program, kids can visit Vance in the children's department from 3 to 5 p.m. to craft a sparkling snowflake and learn how the real thing is made.
