Blizzard Hits Lawrence County

Last updated on Wednesday, December 26, 2012

(UNDATED) - The National Weather Service has issued a blizzard warning from 1 a.m. to 7 pm Wednesday.

Bedford City and County crews were out salting and sanding roads before the storm hit and are out again now.

Highway Superintendent David Holmes says crews are busy.

"If people don't need to get out they need to stay home," Holmes says. "Roads were not too bad early this morning, drivers were able to get some traction, but that could change rapidly with the additional snow and sleet. Again, if you don't have to be out stay home. No sense risking your life and damage to property for a few after Christmas sales. Those sales will be there tomorrow."

Several businesses and daycares are closed. To see a complete list click on the banner at the top of this webpage for more details. This list will be updated as the storm progresses.
