Woman Beaten Outside Night Moves In Bloomington

Last updated on Wednesday, November 14, 2012

(BLOOMINGTON) - A 27-year-old Bloomington woman was punched in the face by her boyfriend at about 4 a.m. Sunday outside Night Moves, on South Walnut Street.

Bloomington Police Department Detective Sgt. John Kovach says the incident sparked when the victim's boyfriend came to the gentleman's club, where the victim works, to discuss arrangements involving their mutual child.

The conversation, in the parking lot, took a violent turn, and the man punched the woman, knocking her to the ground, and began kicking her repeatedly in the ribcage.

Kovach says witnesses yelled for the man to stop, but nobody phoned 911.

The victim told police she blacked out and remembered walking back into the building. The next detail she recalled was getting into the man's car and driving to a wooded area, where she says he continued to beat her "for hours" and wrapped his hands around her neck and restricted her breathing.

At some point, he gained access to her purse and reportedly stole more than $1,000.

Kovach says a warrant has been filed for the man's arrest on felony charges of strangulation and theft as well as misdemeanor charges of domestic battery.

The woman reported the incident at about 3:35 p.m. Sunday afternoon.
