Washington Mayor Appoints New Building Commissioner

(WASHINGTON) - Monday morning, Washington Mayor Joe Wellman announced the appointment of Terry Wininger to fill the position of Building Commissioner for the City of Washington.

The Washington Herald Times reports that Wininger comes to the position with thirty years of experience as a quality custom home builder int he Washington area, retiring from home building in 2005. Since that time he has worked as a self-employed remodeling contractor and instructional assistant for theTwin Rivers Vocational Area.

Wininger is not new to the office, since he was appointed as the first full-time Building Commissioner in 1987. He resigned from the position to re-enter the construction business.

Wininger's appointment fill the vacancy left by the untimely death of the late Building Commissioner Chris Wimminauer.

Wininger envisions maintaining the high level of integrity and professionalism that was established by Chris Wimmenauer during his service as Building Commissioner. He will continue to improve building inspection and enforcement in Washington and assist city officials as they establish an organized and well-planned growth in the area of the I-69 corridor.

Mayor Wellman said, "I am excited that Terry will be joining the City. I look forward to working with him to improve and enforce building standards and zoning ordinances." Wellman continued, "The hands-on construction experience Terry brings to the City is invaluable."

Wininger and his wife, Jan, are both natives of the Washington area. They have three daughters, a son, and seven grandchildren.
