The Hub Holds Grand Opening Saturday - Andrew Terrell Benefit

Last updated on Wednesday, November 21, 2012

(MITCHELL) - The Hub restaurant will have their grand opening Saturday.

Owner Howard Hinman says the event will rally around Mitchell 6th grader Andrew Terrell, who is battling leukemia. Andrew is the son of Zach and Lindsey Terrell.

The grand opening will begin with a ribbon-cutting at 11 a.m. There will be a bounce house and a silent auction, among other attractions. Everyone is asked to wear orange, the color for leukemia awareness, in honor of Andrew. A portion of the restaurant's sales will go directly to Andrew and his family.

Andrew's grandfather, Dan Terrell, reports frequently to his Facebook friends on how Andrew's treatments are going. He added if all goes well, Andrew will take his chemotherapy treatment at home this week with the aid of a home health nurse.

As for The Hub restaurant's first few months in business, Howard wrote, "Business has been good with a significant increase in revenues from what the former owners were taking in. We continue to reinvest all money back in to continue to bring the restaurant back up to its former glory. We've had very good support from the community and have created 25 new jobs."

Hinman is the son Bedford's Ron Hinman, who purchased The Hub from Art and Jo May in 1968. A number of developments related to the restaurant occurred over time with The Hub eventually becoming known as Mitchell Family Restaurant. When the restaurant came up for sale last spring, Howard was approached by his father and his cousin Kevin Osborne about buying it. Howard took a look at the restaurant and decided to give it a try.
