Police Car Collides With Deer

Last updated on Wednesday, November 28, 2012

(BEDFORD) - A Lawrence County police officer hit a deer in his squad car this weekend on Ind. 37 near Trogden Lane.

Sheriff Sam Craig says that Officer Rob German was not injured, but the car suffered a crinkled front fender and damage to the headlight assembly.

German, per county policy, had to submit a urine sample to ensure he had no drugs or alcohol in his system. Craig says those results should be back in a couple of weeks, but he says there is no suspicion of drug or alcohol use.

Craig says this is the first deer hit by a county police car in years.
