(MITCHELL) - When officers from the Lawrence County and Mitchell police departments showed up at Jerry Knoy's residence Thursday night to serve an arrest warrant on the Mitchell man, they found more than they anticipated.

Krystal Shetler, of the Times Mail reports, officers arrived at 1014 Warren St. at 8:40 p.m. to serve an arrest warrant on Knoy for obstruction of justice. When they arrived, Mitchell Police Chief Mike Hardman said officers smelled a strong odor of marijuana coming from the home.

"They then obtained a search warrant," Hardman said. "It was a joint investigation with cooperation from both Mitchell and Lawrence County."

Hardman was unsure how much marijuana was found in the home during the search.
