(LINTON) - A 67-year-old Linton man suffered head injuries Wednesday morning when he was struck by a car while attempting to cross State Road 54 near Humphreys Park.
The Greene County Daily World reports that Richard Carr, who lives in Meadow Brook Apartments, was crossing the highway west of Park Road when he was struck by a 2009 Dodge Charger, driven by 19-year-old Kyle I. Robinson, of rural Linton.
Robinson told police that he was leaving Chuckles Service Station and had stopped at the highway and looked both ways before attempting to turn left (westbound).
The driver told Linton Police Officer Nick Yingling he saw the pedestrian across the highway and as he began to pull out Carr started to jog across the roadway.
Robinson said he tried to stop, but was unable to and his car hit Carr.
"The driver said the pedestrian hit the front of the vehicle and then fell back into the roadway," Yingling wrote in his accident report.
Carr, according to the police report, had a head laceration and complained of his knees hurting following the 7:08 a.m. incident.
Carr was transported by ambulance to Greene County General Hospital.
An emergency room spokesperson said at about 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday that Carr was still receiving treatment in the ER and had not been released.
Robinson's car did not sustain damage, according to the police report.
