Mayor Swears In New Washington Firefighter

Last updated on Wednesday, November 28, 2012

(WASHINGTON) - Mayor Joe Wellman swore in a new member of the Washington Fire Department and the Board of Public Works agreed to purchase a new fire truck for the department.

Tracey Cook was sworn as Washington's newest firefighter before a crowd that contained a large contingent of family and friends.

Fire Chief Dave Rhoads told the Board of Public Works that after checking with other departments and years of research on the project, he felt Ferrar Fire Apparatus offered the best deal for the City and was the only piece of equipment that met all the City's specifications.

The Board voted unanimously to purchase the truck.
