Foul Play Not Suspected As Police Investigate Death

Last updated on Tuesday, November 6, 2012

(MITCHELL) - Lawrence County Detectives are investigating the death of 36-year-old Larry D. Hughes, of Bedford, who passed away at 5 a.m. on Saturday at a friend’s house outside the city limits of Mitchell.

"We do not suspect foul play, but it has not been ruled out," says Sheriff Sam Craig. "Like all unattended deaths an investigation is done. An autopsy was performed and there was no trauma or injury to his body, no signs of foul play. We are waiting on toxicology reports before a determination is made."

Hughes was the son of Larry E and Bonnie (Watson) Hughes. He worked at Shelby Trucking in Mitchell as a mechanic.
