Inmate Dies After Greene County Jailers Find Him Hanging In Cell

Last updated on Thursday, November 29, 2012

(BLOOMFIELD) - 34-year-old Dallas Gose, of Jasonville, died after police found him hanging in his cell at the Greene County Jail.

According to Monroe County Coroner Nicole Meyer, Gose was transported from the jail in Bloomfield to IU Health Bloomington Hospital on Friday for treatment of injuries from a suicide attempt. She says he died Monday from brain death due to asphyxiation.

Meyer says the man's family allowed his organs to be harvested for donation.

The Greene County Sheriff's Department issued a statement Wednesday saying an internal investigation into Gose's death is ongoing and that no information will be released until it is complete.

Gose was arrested on Halloween on two counts of sexual misconduct with a minor and was being held in jail in lieu of $25,000 bond. Alan Baughman had been appointed his public defender, and Gose was scheduled for trial on March 5.

According to court documents in the case, Gose engaged in sexual activity with a 15-year-old girl. She told police the two had kissed and engaged in foreplay at the Linton city pool on June 9, then left together and had sex behind Parkview Lanes bowling alley.

Pool patrons complained several times about the two and their inappropriate and sexual displays of affection.
