Help Hoosier Hills Armed Forces Families Association Fill Care Packages For Military Personnel

Last updated on Wednesday, November 7, 2012

(BEDFORD) - Veterans Day is Nov. 11, and the volunteers at Hoosier Hills Armed Forces Families Association are remembering Lawrence County’s active military personnel with care packages that will be assembled and mailed out Nov. 10.

Volunteers are invited to either donate items, money for postage or just to come pack the boxes at the American Legion Post 33 in Bedford at 9 a.m. on Nov. 10.

"Our main concern is families get a hold of us with names of people who are deployed," said Kim Johnson, HHAFFA member. "But with the withdrawal of so many troops it's not necessary to be deployed overseas."

To send a soldier's mailing address online, go to www.hhaffa.com, send email to kimberly1055@sbcglobal.net or call Johnson at 583-4736.

If you'd like to donate items, suggested items include deodorant, beef jerky, instant coffee, lotion, lip balm, tuna in foil pouches, fruit and meals in pop-top containers, small games and puzzle books. Drop boxes are located at Lowe's, Anytime Fitness, Evans' Automotive on H Street and Stone Cutters Cafe on 15th Street.
