Last updated on Monday, November 12, 2012

(PAYNETOWN) - Guests may “Give Thanks for Wildlife” at the Activity Center at Paynetown State Recreation Area during an open house on Tuesday, Nov. 20, from 6 to 8 p.m.

During the event, attendees can make a squirrel feeder, bird treats and other "gifts" to take home for backyard wildlife. Complimentary warm cider, hot chocolate and cookies will be available.

"As the Thanksgiving holiday nears, we want to encourage people to include wildlife on the list of things that they are thankful for," said Jill Vance, Monroe Lake's naturalist.

Admission is free during the winter season. Paynetown SRA is at 4850 S. State Road 446 in Bloomington. The Activity Center is inside the property, next to the beach.

Questions about the open house should be directed to Vance at (812) 837-9967 or jvance@dnr.IN.gov.
