(BEDFORD) - Duke Energy has awarded a $7,500 grant to the Thornton Memorial Boys Club in Bedford for improvements to the ball fields at Wiley Park, located on the north side of Bedford.
The donation is one of several grants to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Duke Energy's operations in Indiana.
"Providing energy also means being a leader in the community and helping it grow," said Pam Chapman, Duke Energy's district manager for south central Indiana. "We can think of no better way to mark our corporate anniversary than by reinvesting in the communities and towns we serve."
Jim Jackson, chief professional officer of the Boys Club appreciates the donation.
"Our baseball complex is well-used by teams both locally and regionally," Jackson says. "This charitable gift will provide the funds to make needed improvements to the fields and will benefit our youth for years to come."
Duke Energy Indiana's operations provide approximately 6,800 megawatts of owned electric capacity to approximately 790,000 customers, making it the state's largest electric supplier.
