(SALEM) - A single vehicle crash October 25th sent a Salem man to St. Vincent Salem Hospital for treatment of possible head trauma.

Stephanie Taylor Ferriell of the Leader-Democrat reports that Scottie R. Sowder, 33, 4106 E. Canton Rd., had a BAC of .16; twice Indiana's legal limit, according to a report by Washington County Sheriff's Deputy Joe Keltner. The report says that Sowder also tested positive for marijuana and another drug.

The crash, reported at 7:15 p.m., occurred when Sowder, who was westbound on Cox Ferry Road, ran off the road and struck a utility pole. The crash was near the Nubian Road intersection.

Sowder was not wearing a seat belt.

He was driving a white 1991 Oldsmobile Royale 88, registered to a Salem woman.

After he was treated at St. Vincent, Sowder was arrested on OWI charges and transported to the Washington County Detention Center.
