(UNDATED) - A convicted killer who has been bouncing around is back in jail.

Deputies say Robert Lee will have to speak to a parole board.

Lee was taken back to jail after officials say he violated a stipulation of his parole by getting into a vehicle with another person and catching a ride.

Lee told authorities he was assisting a person with directions. Parole officials say that by getting into this vehicle and getting a ride - he was hitchhiking.

Lee was taken to the St. Joseph County Jail in South Bend at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, by a parole officer.

Randall Gentry, vice chairman of the Indiana Parole Board, issued an arrest warrant saying Lee was hitchhiking and that violates his parole.

Gentry says he became aware of Lee's possible parole violation Monday night. By Tuesday, an arrest warrant was served.

Lee will be taken to an Indiana Department of Corrections facility, Gentry says. Once there a hearing will be scheduled.

Gentry says, Lee waived his right to a preliminary hearing Tuesday and pleaded not guilty to the parole violation.

Lee was supposed to live in Bloomington but in the last month public outcry has forced Lee to move from Bloomington, North Vernon and Indianapolis.

Lee originally received 60 years in prison for the 1986 murder and dismemberment of IU graduate Ellen Marks.

He was released after serving less than half of the sentence for good behavior and educational achievements.

In the last month public outcry has forced Lee to move from Bloomington, North Vernon and Indianapolis.
