(TERRE HAUTE) - Indiana State Police Drug Enforcement arrested a Bloomfield pharmacist Monday night in Terre Haute after a two week investigation into money and prescription drug theft.
68-year-old John T. Webb faces one count of theft a Class D felony and one count of dealing in controlled substance, Class B felony.
Webb is being held in the Vigo County Jail without bond and is scheduled to make his initial appearance in court Wednesday.
The owners of JR Pharmacy, located at 2902 Poplar Street, in Terre Haute, originally contacted the ISP about possible theft of both money and products from their pharmacy in October, according to Indiana State Police Public Information Officer Sgt. Joe Watts.
Webb has been employed at the pharmacy for 10 years.
Police allege Webb took nearly $1,100 in cash and various pharmaceutical drugs.
"Webb was allegedly providing the cash and drugs to a female acquaintance in return for sexual favors, to family members and customers, and for his own use," Watt says.
According to the press release, the investigation is ongoing with the possibility of more charges to come.
The investigation is being conducted by ISPDE Detective Deanna Jones. Assisting in the investigation was the Vigo County Prosecutor's Office. The ISP assigned their Drug Enforcement Section to the investigation, due to the possibility of misuse of prescription drugs.
