(WASHINGTON) - The Washington City Council opened three bids for a new fire and rescue truck for the fire department.

The bids ranged in price from 349 to 363 thousand dollars. The city has received a 48-thousand dollar grant to use for the purchase.

Later in the Board of Works meeting, Fire Chief Dave Rhoads explained that currently the first 2 trucks that respond to emergencies are 12 and 15 years old, and both backup trucks are 29 years old.

Rhoads took the bids under advisement and will review them and come back with a recommendation to the council.
