(NASHVILLE) -Three men were arrested on drug charges late Sunday night in Nashville after the Brown County Sheriff’s Office learned that afternoon about a drug deal that was going to take place there.
Sheriff Rick Followell says 23-year-old Jacob Bump, of Bloomington, and 22-year-old Stephen Burton, of Madison, were charged with possession of marijuana over 30 grams and dealing marijuana, both Class C felonies because the transaction took place within 1,000 feet of a school.
Followell says 22-year-old Samuel Johnson, also from Madison, was charged with possession of marijuana over 30 grams.
The sheriff says officers began surveillance and saw a black Chevy that matched the given description. Deputies continued to watch the area as the vehicle met with another vehicle.
Johnson and Burton were in the Chevy, while Bump and another person, Chelsi Monroe, were in a pickup truck.
After they all met in Nashville, a plainclothes officer kept watching and saw a transfer between Bump and Burton.
Both vehicles were stopped as they left a restaurant.
During the investigation at the traffic stop, one of the officers located a small amount of marijuana and $680 in cash. The other two officers found 60 grams of marijuana in the Chevy.
Bump, Burton and Johnson were then arrested and charged.
While interviewing the three men, officers received information that led them to believe there was more marijuana in Bump's home in Bloomington.
A search warrant was executed at 11:15 p.m. and revealed another 60 grams of marijuana, LSD, cocaine and psilocybin mushrooms. Two residents present at the time were arrested by Bloomington police on Class C felony charges.
