(MEDORA) 18-year-old Martie Deanna Jean Wynn, of Medora was killed Satrday afternoon in a one-car crash in southwestern Jackson County.
Jackson County Coroner Roger Wheeler pronounced Wynn dead at the scene of the wreck in the area of 600 North County Road 975 West, or Wray's Church Road.
Wheeler says Dr. George Weir conducted an autopsy Saturday night, and listed the preliminary cause of death as head injury.
Jackson County Lt. Darin Downs says the wreck was reported at about 12:30 p.m. on Wray's Church Road, which he says has several curves and hills.
Downs says Wynn was traveling north in a 2002 Mustang convertible, when she topped the hill, veered to the right, skidded and then hit a couple of trees. He added wet road conditions added to the cause of the wreck.
Downs says, Wynn was not wearing a seat belt and was partially ejected through the windshield of her car.
Wynn was a student at Indiana University Southeast in New Albany and a 2012 graduate of Seymour High School.
She worked as a cashier at Walmart Supercenter in Seymour.
A Salem native, she was the daughter of Tom and Sylvia Emmons of Medora and Ronnie and Carrie Sidwell of Elizabethtown.
The funeral for Wynn is set for 11 a.m. Wednesday at Johnson Funeral Home in Vallonia.
