Last updated on Wednesday, October 24, 2012

(BROWNSTOWN) - The trial of John A. Shoultz III, of Crothersville, on trial for conspiracy to murder the chief deputy prosecutor and two others, is set to resume today in Jackson Circuit Court in Brownstown.

Two witnesses took the stand Monday after Prosecutor Rick Poynter and defense attorney Alice Bartanen Blevins offered opening statements to jurors.

Those witnesses were two of the reported targets in the case - Chief Deputy Prosecutor Amy Marie Travis and Shoultz's former attorney, John T. Roche of Jennings County.

Jackson Circuit Judge Bill Vance who is presiding says the jury should begin deliberating today.

24-year-old Shoultz, is serving 58 years in prison after a jury found him guilty in June of murdering his father in May 2009.
