Police Took Steps To Keep Students Safe At Martinsville Middle School

Last updated on Friday, October 5, 2012

(MARTINSVILLE) - Police in Morgan County are investigating threats that claim violence would take place Thursday at Martinsville West Middle School.

Police say steps were taken to keep students and staff safe.

Officers say threats were made Wednesday through text messages involving several people. Officers will not say if texts were exchanged between students or what the threats involve.

This is the same school where Michael Phelps shot classmate Chance Jackson in March of last year.

Jackson survived the shooting and Phelps is now in prison.
