Last updated on Tuesday, October 23, 2012

(FAYETTEVILLE) - Lawrence County police are investigating the burglary of a garage and the death of dog.

Sheriff Sam Craig says the burglary was reported at 8:51 p.m. Monday in the 5000 block of Ind. 158.

"There was hunting equipment taken and a chain saw and other items," Craig says. "The homeowner's dog was injured with a sharp object and did die from the results of that injury. We don't know if the dog was attempting to bite someone or was barking or why it was killed."

Craig says the case is still under investigation and anyone with information is asked to call police.
