Last updated on Wednesday, October 3, 2012

(ORLEANS) - 33-year-old Brent Minton, of Orleans, a journeyman at Orange County REMC was killed Tuesday morning while loading a utility pole on a truck.

According to General Manager and Chief Executive Officer Dan Arnold, the accident at the electric cooperative's headquarters on State Road 337 in Orleans is under investigation and no information is available on how the accident happened.

"We are devastated by this loss," REMC general manager and CEO Dan Arnold said in a press release. "Orange County REMC is a small company in a close-knit community, and although the job of a lineman has inherent dangers, we are never prepared to experience a fatality. An investigation is underway to determine the exact cause of the accident, but even knowing those facts will not ease the pain for Brent's family, friends and co-workers. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his loved ones."

Minton was a Journeyman Lineman and worked at Orange County REMC for 12 years. He lived in Orleans and was graduate of Paoli Jr./Sr. High School. Minton was also a deacon at the Dogwood Community Church in Paoli. He is survived by his wife Crystal, two children Benjamin and Miley, parents Richard and Dinah Minton and sister Kasie Lewellyn.
