(ORLEANS) - Orleans Town Clerk Robert F. Henderson has announced that the response to the newly introduced Orleans Rx Card has been quite positive to date.
Henderson reminds residents that the free prescription cards are still readily available and may be picked up Monday through Friday from the Orleans Town Offices during regular business hours.
Residents may also obtain a card by visiting the town's website www.town.orleans.in.us and clicking on the link said Henderson.
Residents simply take the card to their local pharmacy for a discount on their prescription. The card is activated and ready to be used. Each family must have his/her own card. The card can be used to get discounts of up to 75 percent off most brand name and generic medications, with average savings of 30 percent.
In addition to the Prescription Drug Card, the program offers other discounts on teeth whitening supplies, prescription eye glasses, hearing aids, and diabetic supplies.
Henderson said the program was launched to help the insured and under-insured, but everyone is eligible.
For those with insurance, the card can be used to cover most non-covered medications.
