Last updated on Friday, October 5, 2012

45-year-old Michael Jamison, of Bedford, was arrested Wednesday after he was caught stealing from Wal-Mart and sprayed that employee with a Raid flea fogger.

Jamison, was taken to the Lawrence County Jail at 11:25 p.m. on charges of theft, criminal recklessness and battery with a deadly weapon.

According to a probable cause affidavit filed in Lawrence Superior Court I, Jamison on Sept. 24 put a heater, two jacks and a 60-inch TV in a store cart and walked out of the store without paying.

When two Wal-Mart employees confronted Jamison outside the store, he sprayed one of them in the upper body and face with the raid. Jamison then ran to a vehicle and fled from the property.

Bedford Police Department Detective Brian Cartwright reviewed the store's video and identified the man as Jamison.

Police say they had dealt with Jamison in the past on two previous theft cases at Wal-Mart.

The two store clerks identified Jamison in a photo lineup.

Police say the employee who was sprayed with Raid was not seriously injured.
