Last Day To Register To Vote, Early Voting Begins

Last updated on Tuesday, October 9, 2012

(BEDFORD) - Voters who want to vote early can cast ballots starting Tuesday in the Lawrence County Courthouse.

Myron Rainey, Lawrence County clerk, and the election board scheduled the hours for casting absentee ballots in person at the Voter Registration Office in Room 20.

Both the north and south entrances to the courthouse will be open. Ramp and elevator access are available via the south entrance.

Voters must present a government-issued photo ID before a ballot will be issued. A driver's license, state ID or federal ID can be used.

Weekday early voting will be available from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Tuesday through Friday; Oct. 15-19; Oct. 22-26; and Oct. 29 to Nov. 2.

The office will be closed for one hour for lunch, but lunch times might slightly vary due to the amount of people in line at the normal lunch time of 11:30 a.m. All voters in line at 11:30 a.m. will vote before the office closes for lunch.

Early voting on Saturdays will be offered from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Oct. 27 and Nov. 3. There will be no lunch breaks on these days.

For more information, call the voter registration office in the Lawrence County Courthouse at 277-2036.
