(BLOOMINGTON) - An Indiana University student was sexually assaulted at knifepoint in the east parking lot of Eigenmann Hall about 5:10 a.m. Thursday

According to IU police Chief Keith Cash press release, the 19-year-old male student told police he had just parked his car and was approached by a black male, who asked where Eigenmann was located.

Cash says the man then grabbed the victim by the arm and hair and slammed the student's head against the car several times.

Cash says the student was not injured by the knife, but was taken to the hospital.

The suspect is a black male has long hair, with a thin build and is about 6 feet, 2 inches tall and between 22 to 30 years old. The student told police the man had a raspy voice and was wearing a black shirt and blue jeans.

Cash says, after the assault, the suspect ran. IU police searched the area, but were unable to find anyone matching the description of the man.

Police used IU's alert system to send out a message about the assault to the campus community.
