(BROWNSTOWN) - A meeting Monday night was supposed to help clear up the fate of a former feed mill across the street from the historic Jackson County Courthouse.
The Tribune reports that there are more questions than answers.
On Sept. 1, the council signed off on a master plan that could lead to a new use for the 100 block of East Walnut Street, where the feed mill sits
Brownstown/Ewing Main Street obtained a federal grant of $36,000 with the town council's assistance to pay RATIO Architects to complete a master plan for both the 100 and 200 blocks of East Walnut Street, as well as other potential projects that would enhance the county seat.
The nonprofit group outlined four options this summer for revitalizing the two blocks.
The town has been pursuing a $170,000 grant to help pay for the purchase of the mill, which has not been used in about 20 years.
That mill belongs to Rick and Linda Brown, and the town is trying to obtain an option to buy the property for $50,000.
